Professor Anil B. Suraj delivers courses in IIMB on International Economic Law and Enforcement, Business Law, and Public Administration and Law. Prior to joining IIMB, Suraj was a Research Fellow at the National Judicial Academy, India. Suraj was appointed by the Planning Commission for 12th Five Year Plan (2012 - 2017) Working Group for Union Ministry of Law and Justice.

His research areas include, Public Contract Law; Urban Governance and the Law; and Anti-dumping policy in India and the EU. Suraj has also co-authored a research paper titled “Redesign of Government Business Relations in India and the Role of Legal Process” presented at the Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law, Stanford University. He has drafted research opinions for the Chief Justice of India, published articles and lectured in training programmes on intellectual property law, WTO and international trade and legal issues relating to commercial transactions. Suraj graduated from the National Law School Bangalore in 2000, and has undertaken doctoral study on the defensive mechanisms under the World Trade Organization.

 

Mr. S.Shanker is a Management Consultant in the functional areas of Marketing, Commercial & Legal, Supply Chain and International Business. He is an Adjunct Faculty with the Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIMB), A Visiting Faculty with Indian Institute of Management – Shillong (IIMS) and Indian Institute of Management – Udaipur (IIMU), teaching subjects related to Commercial Law, International Trade and Management Consulting.

S.Shanker brings a multi-functional, multi industrial experience of more than 25 years, having worked with Shaw Wallace, Hindustan Unilever, Ecolab and Avon Facility Management Services.

S.Shanker has a degree in Commerce, a degree in Law and 2 PGD’s – one in Human Resources and the other in International Trade. He has been actively teaching for the last 5 years and also conducts regular training workshops for large industrial houses, such as L & T, Vendanta, Bosch, Oil India etc. He is actively involved with The Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre – VTPC – Govt. of Karnataka in sensitizing and promoting International Trade to academia and industry.

 

Effective management of Commercial Contracts is a daunting task requiring adequate and practical COMMERCIAL KNOWEDGE, more so in the current context of Globalization & increasing emphasis on public Private partnerships in infrastructure contracts.

To tackle the complications in trans-national trade & contracts, a host of International Institutions & Conventions such as FIDIC, WTO, ICC, UNCITRAL, UNCTAD, WCO, WB/IMF, UN/EDIFACT, etc., have introduced several rules, regulations and models for various types of Commercial Contracts. These are intended to bring about uniformity in understanding of commercial contracts and international trade

• Varoius types of long duration contracts such as BOOT, BOT, BOLT etc and PPP.

• Contracts involving I P R & Royalty such as Software & Related service Contracts

• Contract Models: ICC, UNCITRAL, FIDIC etc.

• Interface of Contract Issues with WCO, WTO, etc..

• Negotiable Instruments& Payment Mechanism: Letters of Credit such as ICC UCP600/URC 522

Programme Fee and Payment

INR 76,000/- Residential and INR 70,000/- Non -Residential (+ Applicable GST) per person for participants from India and its equivalent in US Dollars for participants from other countries.

A certificate of participation will be awarded to the participants by IIMB.

  • The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date.
  • In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme.
  • If a nomination is not accepted, the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.
