Phase 2 :  22-25 October, 2019 - 4 day visit to Israel (excluding travel days)

In the world of business and technology, India and Israel have complementary strengths. While India is playing technology catch-up in several industry segments that offer huge potential for both products and services., Israel is at the cutting edge of technology in several domains but has a small local market. Thus, there are several opportunities for collaboration between firms in the two countries. In line with the “MAKE IN INDIA” initiative, the object of this program is to help participants identify technology gaps in India that prevent the development and/or manufacture of required products and services in India. It will also help participants learn how to seek technology partnerships with firms in Israel and build long-term technology partnerships for mutual benefit. The objective is to understand technologies and the process of technology development in Israel to enhance the application of technology to enhance business opportunities in India and other India-like markets

Participants are expected to identify a potential technology gap in India that they think can be addressed by technologies that might be available in Israel before the program. This input will be required at the time of application and will influence acceptance/rejection of the candidate. It is best if organizations, that have identified a clear technology need, nominate a team of 4 persons to allow for a focused learning experience. Else, participants will be grouped with other participants who are interested in a similar domain. The pedagogy adopted will help participants identify partners and build partnerships between firms in India and Israel to address the identified gap.

Through lectures, case studies and interactive round table discussions participants will learn – over a 3-day learning experience – methodologies to pursue international technology strategies with reference to the India-Israel corridor.  At the end of the 3-day program, each team will have greater clarity of the technology needs of an Indian firm. During the month before the travel to Israel, the teams will be required to apply their learnings to identify potential Israeli partners. Assistance will be provided to bring closure to the search process. During the 5-day visit to Israel, participants will be provided opportunities to interact with key decision makers at the identified partner companies, along with a general exposure to the innovation and technology ecosystem in Israel, and visits to understand the historical and social context of the country. In an ideal situation, at the end of the visit, the participants should have provided enough inputs to the two firms to pursue details of a future collaboration, if not arrive at a position to sign a partnership agreement.

Participants, from any background, whether technical or other, and any level in an organization, whether big or small, may attend. They should be passionate about the need to solve some of the problems in India, and have some preliminary awareness of the potential for a technological solution to that problem. The course will help them progress on the journey to identifying the appropriate technology and a suitable technology partner from Israel to address the problems they have a zeal to pursue.
