In today’s world, VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) situations could arise from events such as organizational restructuring, product recall, mergers & acquisitions, fast-changing market conditions, regulatory changes, force majeure and such like. If not managed effectively, VUCA situations could result in severe negative impact on one or more of the stakeholders in an organization; effective management will result in positive impact on employee motivation, customer & vendor confidence and the company’s image vis-à-vis investors, institutions and the public at large.

In such situations, it is an established fact that communication is a key element in minimizing, managing or even neutralizing the severity and negative impact of VUCA situations.

Designed and implemented by experienced educators and communications professionals with first-hand, practical organisational experience of VUCA situations as well as an appreciation of the critical need for strong communication strategy, this program will enable participants to design and execute effective internal and external communication to more effectively manage VUCA situations arising in organizations.

The programme is based on documented, classic VUCA situations as well as instructor and participant experience and draws its theoretical foundations from cross-functional disciplines of management such as strategic thinking, leadership behavior and marketing communication. The program is designed as an interactive, hands-on workshop which will not only expose participants to the underlying academic concepts, but simultaneously take a very practical, framework-based approach that participants might apply in the field to equip them and their organizations to more effectively manage communication in possible VUCA scenarios.

Specific programme objectives and learning outcomes include:

  1. Identification of emergent (VUCA) situations in different organisational contexts,
  2. Knowledge of the underlying theoretical and practical deployment of communication strategy frameworks and thus, the ability to design  strategic communication plans to manage possible VUCA situations,
  3. Familiarity with the planning, budgeting, and execution of  communication strategies in terms of the identification and understanding of audiences and actors who are impacted, the ability to determine messaging needs and make media decisions and execute these activities, and
  4. Understanding of the methodologies to deploy and assess the effectiveness of such plans and actions.

The program will be of interest and maximum value to:

  • Managers and Corporate Communication professionals working in mid to large Indian or Multi-National Companies or PSU’s with at least 10+ years’ work-experience and are transitioning from middle to senior levels of management
  • Entrepreneurs and Owner-Managers of Medium-to Large Companies
  • Social Entrepreneurs or professional managers in Medium to Large NGOs

The program will equip the participants with a comprehensive framework, tools and confidence to identify, design and execute effective communication strategies and campaigns in emergent VUCA scenarios.
