Increasing globalisation in today’s business landscape requires leaders who can effectively lead their organizations in the competitive global marketplace. This program is intended for participants who aspire to lead their organisations across borders by creating winning strategies for the global marketplace. An integrative and multidisciplinary case-based approach will be utilised to analyse and critique core international business issues, including the processes involved in analysing differences between global markets and implementing strategies across culturally diverse and geographically dispersed regions. Participants will develop insights on the process of diagnosing differences between countries and analysing how firm advantages could be transferred across borders. They will also learn how to integrate local and global perspectives in creating winning strategies and manage coordination of culturally diverse and geographically dispersed teams including bridging differences across cultures and borders. They will be exposed to the challenges faced in entering foreign markets and how to overcome them, with specific emphasis on emerging markets. The course is outcome centered with a focus on developing the skills required to be successful global managers.

The program is designed for

  • Middle to senior level managers who are leading or likely to lead their organization’s operation in foreign markets
  • Managers based at headquarters but in charge of liaising with international operations
  • Managers involved in international outsourcing, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and international business
  • Managers leading the coordination of globally dispersed work teams operating in diverse markets    

The sessions will start at 9.00 am on day one and will end at 5.00 pm on day two. There will be ten sessions of 75 minutes duration over the two days with five sessions per day. Participants may plan to leave only after 5.00 p.m. on the second day. Do not book return flights that depart earlier than 8.30 pm on the last day as it takes about two hours to reach the Bangalore airport from IIMB campus.

Ganesh N. Prabhu is Professor of Strategy at IIMB. He did his post-graduation from the Institute of Rural Management Anand and is a Fellow of IIM Ahmedabad. He won the Best Young Teacher Award and Best Research Paper Award from the Association of Indian Management Schools. Since 1996 he teaches strategy courses across programs and offers an elective on new product development in the post-graduate program at IIMB. He jointly created the popular course Business Planning for International Markets that involves MBA students from IIMB visiting an international market location (Dubai) and developing a business plan for an Indian firm of their choice entering that market. His research has been published in many journals including two FT50 journals - Academy of Management Review and Research Policy. He has conducted several senior management team visioning workshops and been actively involved in mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups and small firms. He was earlier a nominated member of the India Design Council. While at IIMB he has consulted on major turnaround projects and prior to his doctoral studies he was an Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of the Punjab Milk Federation for a year on a major turnaround project.

Arijit Sikdar  is Associate Professor (International Business and Strategy) at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). The University of Wollongong (UOW) is the leading institution in Australia and for the ninth year UOW is ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings Graduate Employers survey. Arijit did his B.Tech for IIT-ISM Dhanbad and is a Fellow of IIM Ahmedabad. Prior to UOWD, he has taught at IIM Indore and MDI Gurgaon. Arijit’s research interests are in the areas of International Business, Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Technology Management and he has obtained research grants from DSIR India, AICTE India and UOWD. His research work has been published in leading journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Business Process Management Journal, Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, International Journal of Emerging Markets and Journal of Entrepreneurship. Arijit has co-edited a book of business cases in South Asia. He has won UOWD’s best research award in 2009. Arijit has extensive experience in designing and delivering open and customized management development workshops for different organizations in India and UAE. Arijit has also worked in management consultancy and thus brings the industry perspective to his teaching.

Programme Fee and Payment

INR 1,02,000/- Residential and INR 95,000/- Non -Residential (+ Applicable GST) per person for participants from India and its equivalent in US Dollars for participants from other countries.

Early Bird Discount

Nominations received with payments on or before 31- May-19 will be entitled to an early bird Discount of 10%.

Please Note:

All enrolments are subject to review and approval by the programme director. Joining Instructions will be sent to the selected candidates 10 days prior the start of the programme. Kindly do not make your travel plans unless you receive the letter from IIMB.

A certificate of participation will be awarded to the participants by IIMB.

  • The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date.
  • In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme.
  • If a nomination is not accepted, the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.
