In most firms, a majority of committed costs (upto 60%) can be traced to sourcing decisions. Also, the extent of outsourcing has risen to such an extent that rarely do firms make products entirely on their own. Instead, they rely on global sources for procuring products, sub-assemblies, services and capital equipment. Yet, many firms report failures in their global integration efforts. In particular, issues such as risk management, implementing sustainability in foreign contexts and setting contracts in foreign settings are becoming ‘hot’ issues. Through this seminar, we expose the participants to the current trends in global sourcing.

The coverage of topics include: Trends in Global Sourcing; Supply Management; Strategic Sourcing; Global Sourcing; Negotiation; Performance Measurement and Evaluation; Sourcing Risk Management; Supplier Evaluation and Selection; Electronic Sourcing; Analytical Tools in Sourcing; and Sustainability and Sourcing. We will use a variety of methods in this seminar including: case analyses, sourcing best practices project, negotiation exercise, and presentations by industry guest speakers.

This programme covers skills necessary to implement global sourcing strategies in a variety of settings such as manufacturing, services, retailing, and government agencies. In particular, the focus is on discussing cutting edge negotiation and global sourcing strategies pursued in exemplar firms. Participants have the opportunity to engage in discussions on current and real world issues among their community of peers who are expected to come from leading edge firms in India.

 The key benefits and takeaways from this seminar are:

  • To introduce current concepts and principles in global sourcing;
  • To expose the applications of these principles via sharing of best practices as pursued by leading edge firms;
  • To provide applied learning opportunities in global sourcing through a combination of case analyses, negotiation exercise and sourcing project;
  • To enhance participants expertise in the areas of team building, presentation, analytical and report writing skills.

The ideal participant is a middle level or senior manager with responsibility in sourcing and supply management in manufacturing, service, government agencies, consulting, retail or non-profit agencies. This seminar will also benefit managers in supply chain management roles other than sourcing as they are required to engage with sourcing managers within their organizations.
