Knowledge Management and Competitive Advantage

Volume 13, Number 4 Article by Rishikesha T Krishnan December, 2001

Knowledge Management and Competitive Advantage :

Rishikesha Krishnan examines the strategic issues related to knowledge management and with apt illustrations, highlights the need for an organisation to have a KM strategy to develop and sustain a competitive advantage. The articles by Narendra M Agrawal and Abhoy K Ojha emphasise that attention to certain behaviour aspects of organisations is essential for KM strategies to succeed. The former, based on field research, underscores the essentially social nature of KM processes and the importance of the knowledge worker, and illustrates some of the elements of an organisational culture that facilitate knowledge acquisition and sharing, The latter focuses on the need to avoid certain learning traps on the path of building a knowledge organisation.
