The Dialogue by NSRCEL at IIMB: January 11, Mumbai

11 January, 2020: NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore’s innovation and entrepreneurial Centre of Excellence, is celebrating 20 years of nurturing entrepreneurs across industries, and engaging entrepreneurs across the country through events and meetups. 

As part of the celebrations, NSRCEL is launching, for the first time, programs for entrepreneurs in Mumbai, and events that bring together bright minds to share experiences that are idea-focused, and relevant to the entrepreneur, to foster learning, inspiration and to provoke conversations that count.

The first edition of The Dialogue, a panel discussion is happening on 11th January 2020, on ‘Bootstrapped vs Funding: What’s best for your startup?’

Keynote Speaker: Mr. Karthik Reddy -- Co-founder and Managing Partner at Blume Ventures, one of India’s leading early stage Venture funds. Blume focuses on seed to Pre-Series A stages of funding and has made over a 100 investments across its eight-year history across multiple funds. Blume is now investing from Fund III starting 2019.

Imran Jafar: Managing Partner at Gaja Capital. Gaja is India’s leading mid-market growth capital firm. Gaja’s aim is to help create India’s next generation of market leaders in sectors such as Education, Consumer, Financial Services and Healthcare. Imran has 20 years of experience in Private Equity, Pharmaceuticals and Technology services.

Vineeta Singh: Currently the CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics – a cult-popular premium makeup brand that caters to Lips, Eyes, Face and Nails and has products cut-out for all skin tones. Vineeta has a career spanning 12 years and has had the most stellar and groundbreaking journey that started at the age of 23, fresh out of IIM Ahmedabad. Having served in leadership positions at various other multi-million-dollar businesses over the past decade, she is the front-runner of the SUGAR Cosmetics team in India with 750+ members across the country

Poyni Bhatt: Founding team member of SINE, the technology business incubator at IIT Bombay, and has been managing the incubator since 2004. She has been involved in 140+ startups incubated at SINE. is a qualified legal and compliance professional, turned to technology business incubation by chance, helping entrepreneurs for over a decade. She has an experience of 3 decades in industry and academia.

Deepa Krishnan: Founder of Magic Tours of India, a responsible tourism company which provides training and employment for students from slums in Mumbai and Delhi. Ms. Krishnan is also the founder of Abhyudaya Community Initiative, a women’s group which manufactures and sells textile-based handicrafts using traditional textiles of India. She is a Professor at the S P Jain Institute of Management Studies (SPJIMR), where she teaches Mentoring and Leadership. She has published research in the area of urban poverty. Prior to these ventures, Deepa worked for 18 years in corporate sector, primarily in financial services technology, handling projects across the globe for Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Barclays Bank.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula, Chair of the Entrepreneurship area at IIM Bangalore. Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chair, NSRCEL at IIMB, will be present.
