A series of engagements in New Delhi on 8th April 2026 marked continued progress on the Open

Network for Carbon Markets (ONCM) as it moves into the pilot development stage. Ms. Chaitrali Bhoi (Project Lead ONCM) and Prof. R. Srinivasan, (Chairperson IIMB CDPG) met with key institutional stakeholders to align the ONCM’s emerging digital architecture with regulatory, ecological, and market considerations under India’s Carbon Market and Climate Policy

Discussions with Shri Saurabh Diddi (Director at the Bureau of Energy Efficiency), focused on market structure, implementation pathways, and the regulatory context shaping carbon market operations in India. , Team had opportunity to meet  Shri Anand Mohan, (CEO of National CAMPA Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change exploring the potential pathways for collaboration of ONCM’s framework with forestry-linked carbon supply and land-use systems.

Further engagements with Mr. Arnab Mandal (Tata Trusts) explored ecosystem alignment, pilot readiness, and institutional participation.

 

At the Networks for Humanity (NFH) office on 16th April 2026, ONCM team had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Pramod Varma  along with NFH Team and share the vision of the Open Network for Carbon Markets (ONCM), being enabled through the NFH Fabric (Beckn Protocol and Finternet).
Discussing the technological feasibility of such a population-scale initiative with him was both grounding and motivating. It reaffirmed that while the ambition is large, the direction is meaningful and worth pursuing with even greater rigour and speed.
Additionally, team had the opportunity to interact with Mr. Pramod Mishra, who has been anchoring work on India’s carbon market with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (ऊर्जा दक्षता ब्यूरो) and Ministry of Power Govt of India, along with Mr. Santosh K Singh, Managing Director of Intellecap, where discussions contributed to further realignment of the ONCM framework with evolving market and institutional perspectives. Across these consultations, there was a consistent emphasis on enabling inclusive market access, ensuring interoperability, and building transparent participation frameworks, positioning ONCM as a foundational digital layer for equitable carbon market development.
