Programme Overview
Traditionally, crafting an organization strategy was viewed to be the responsibility of senior leaders of organizations. However, with increasing uncertainty in the business environment, modern organizations need almost every employee to think strategically. This programme aims at embedding principles of strategic thinking among participants, so that they can be valuable contributors to formulating and implementing winning strategies for their organizations. At the heart of strategic thinking lies creating a sustainable competitive advantage. Participants would develop insights about how to create value for the customers, how to capture value and how to design organizations for sustaining competitive advantage.

Programme Objective
This programme is aimed at creating a discipline of strategic thinking and strategic practice among the participants. Strategic thinking comprises making a set of integrated choices from alternatives under conditions of uncertainty. The programme will equip participants with knowledge and skills necessary for generating alternatives and making choices that would enable their organizations to achieve their business objectives.

Programme Content
This programme is divided into three modules. In the first module, we discuss why an organization exists, who are its most important customers, and what is the need of the customer that the organization fulfills through its products and services. In the second module, participants analyze how such needs of the customer can be addressed profitably over a sustained period of time while in the third module, participants understand the levers for executing the strategy successfully.

Leaders need to be competent in both strategic thinking and strategy execution for their organization to be successful in a competitive and dynamic world of business. This programme sharpens the critical thinking, analytical and conceptual abilities of the participants, so that they develop a clear idea of the process of strategizing and be ready for different kinds of internal and external challenges that their organization might need to face in future.

Key Benefits/Takeaways
The participants will learn how to think strategically, which means how to consider options and make choices regarding different dimensions of strategy. They will be taught powerful yet simple frameworks that will enable them to structure their thoughts in terms of industry attractiveness, competitive advantage, and competencies of their organization, and make choices for achieving their organization’s business objectives.

Pedagogy
The pedagogy will be a mix of case studies, interactive lectures, and workouts. Participants will be involved in several exercises where they will apply the frameworks and techniques that will be discussed in class

Who Should Participate
This programme is suitable for senior leaders or top managers of organizations, who are involved in formulating organization strategy and responsible for implementing the strategy that they formulate. While the programme is primarily targeted towards leaders from the for-profit sector, leaders from the social sector or public policy domain will also gain from it, since the principles of strategic thinking is domain agnostic and therefore, applicable to all kinds of organizations and initiatives.
