Programme Overview
This programme, structured as a workshop, will enable participants to develop rich business case studies that can be taught in an MBA curriculum. Case based teaching is a dominant pedagogy in management education and there is a constant need to develop case studies that are relevant and contextually embedded. The theme of the workshop is sustainability, as the world today faces unprecedented challenges from adverse impact of climate change. It is the need of the hour for every management curriculum to incorporate elements that can educate managers and leaders on how to adopt sustainable practices to reduce emissions and help restore the health of the planet. This workshop will provide participants with tools and techniques for developing insightful case studies that can enrich their respective curricula along the dimension of sustainability.

Programme Objectives
This workshop aims to help participants learn the nuts and bolts of business case writing. This will help them develop case studies across diverse management domains that can be incorporated in the curricula of management and leadership development institutions. Under the broad theme of sustainability, specific to this workshop, the case studies can be focused on any discipline of management education, such as strategy, entrepreneurship, marketing, organization development, finance, and operations management. Under the guidance of academicians who have written and published multiple case studies, participants will be taken through the various stages of case writing and provided practical inputs as and when they encounter challenges. By the end of the workshop, participants will thoroughly understand how to write high-quality case studies that can be used as an effective pedagogical tool in class. Depending on their quality, some of these case studies could be published through prestigious case-publishing outlets such as HBSP. A compilation of high-quality cases may also be published as a book as an end outcome of the workshop.

Programme Content
The workshop will focus on developing case studies and their associated teaching notes in a hands-on manner. Participants are expected to arrive at the workshop with ideas about a case study that they would like to develop. They will learn the following through the workshop, which they can incorporate as they develop their cases under the guidance of the faculty instructors.

• Understanding the art and science behind case teaching and case writing
• Different elements of cases and how they vary from a journal article or an academic paper.
• Importance of teaching note and its elements
• Storyboarding for a case
• Linkage of theoretical and teaching concepts through the teaching note
• Background research and collection of primary and secondary data

Key Benefits/Takeaways
Having attended the workshop, participants will be able to write case studies and teaching notes on their own, which is a primary competence necessary for educators in management and leadership development institutions. While it is expected that the case studies developed in this workshop will be within the broad domain of sustainability, the skill and competency of writing a case study are generic in nature and can be used to develop any other kind of cases suited to the teaching and research interest of the participants.

An additional benefit of this workshop will be creating a community of practitioners keen to develop suitable academic content around the theme of sustainability. Successful completion of the workshop will ensure that the cohort will produce a large number of cases, which can even be put together to create a curriculum around the theme of challenges that businesses and organizations face while dealing with sustainability, climate change, creating sustainable business practices, and even other business challenges.

Pedagogy
This will be a highly interactive and hands-on workshop where faculty members will guide the participants in their case writing efforts. The principles of writing case studies and teaching notes will be communicated through structured lectures and discussions. Participants will deploy those principles while writing their cases, make brief presentations, and receive feedback from their peer group as well as the faculty guides. Thus, each of the participants will develop their own case study and associated teaching note in an iterative manner over the duration of the workshop.
