Position of Senior Fellow

Two categories of candidates can apply for Senior Fellow position at IIMB: (A) Superannuated faculty of IIMB and (B) Eminent retired persons from Industry, Government and Academia. The corresponding eligibility criterion mentioned below should be followed for appointments under these two categories. Keeping in mind BoG’s suggestion, the FDEC recommends that the number of Senior Fellows at any given point in time should not exceed more than 10% of permanent faculty.

Eligibility Criterion for Category A

 All criterion mentioned below must be fulfilled:

  • Has fulfilled work norm in the last 5 years
  • Has provided significant service to the Institute, either by way of outstanding teaching, outstanding research or administrative roles
  • Must be working on projects/endeavors of national importance OR must be actively involved in research at the time of retirement (demonstrated through publications in IIMB list of journals) OR has signed up for a scholarly book (not text book) with a well-known publisher

Eligibility Criterion for Category B

All criterion mentioned below must be fulfilled:

  • Candidates must have exhibited outstanding performance by reaching senior positions in their respective fields. In case of government, they must be eminent policymakers.
  • Candidate’s experience must be relevant to IIMB’s purpose and goals in the policy domain OR should have significant societal impact.
  • Must be working on projects/endeavors of national importance at the time of retirement has signed up for a scholarly book (not text book) with a well-known publisher

The Senior Fellow will be awarded:

  • Initially for one year, extendable up to one more year
  • Office space
  • Access to other infrastructure facilities such as library, computing etc.
  • Compensation only tied to teaching (as with Adjunct Faculty)

Deliverables

  • Teaches at least 30 hrs equivalent in any of the Institute’s programmes
  • If the “Senior Fellow” has been awarded based on a proposal to write a scholarly book, then the following are the deliverables:
    1. A draft of the book by the end of the first year (contract renewal requirement)
    2. Published book at the end of the second year with proper acknowledgment to IIMB
  • Any other deliverable agreed upon and mentioned in the offer letter.

We encourage OBC, SC/ST, PwD candidates to apply for all teaching and research positions (Academic Interns, Adjunct Faculty, Visiting Faculty, Tenure Track Faculty) in the Institute.
