About the Conference

The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, is pleased to announced the 9th edition of its Biennial Supply Chain Management Conference, organized by the Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) – a Centre of Excellence of the institute, to be held on December 11–12, 2025.

This conference brings together academic researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers to discuss and explore the latest challenges and opportunities in supply chain management. It offers a platform to share research insight, industry experience, and practical solutions through keynote sessions, paper presentations, panel discussions, and workshops.

Theme

Today’s supply chains are being reshaped by sustainability goals, rapid technological change – including Generative AI – and shifting geopolitical dynamics. Reflecting these transformations, the theme for this year’s conference is: “Geopolitics, Sustainability, and GenAI: Navigating the New Age of Supply Chain

Who Should Attend

The conference is open to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students interested in the evolving landscape of supply chains. Participants will have the chance to:

  • Present and discuss original research papers
  • Learn from leading experts
  • Engage in interactive sessions and workshops
  • Network with peers from academia and industry

We invite submissions that align with the conference theme (but not limited to) and contribute to a deeper understanding of how supply chains can adapt and thrive in today’s complex environment.

Submission Guidelines for Regular Conference Track

  • Extended abstracts can include case studies, research in progress, and full research projects.
  • The authors are requested to submit their extended abstracts (not exceeding 1,500 words) electronically in MS Word or PDF format with single line spacing, including the name, affiliation, mailing address, email address, and contact number of the author and contact information at: www.iimb.ac.in/9th-biennial-scm-conference/register1.php. In the case of multiple authors, the letter should indicate the author to whom correspondence should be addressed.
  • Extended abstracts must include a clear indication of the purpose of the research, methodology, major results, implications, and key references.
  • Submitted abstracts will undergo peer review to check their suitability for the conference.
  • One of the authors of each accepted paper must register for the conference and agree to present the paper at the conference.
  • Please note that the conference will not publish the papers in any journal, allowing authors the freedom to submit their work to journals of their choice.
  • All presenting authors will receive a certificate of participation for their contribution to the conference.

Doctoral Student Paper Competition

The highlight of the 9th Biennial Supply Chain Management Conference is the dedicated track for the doctoral student paper competition. Four to six finalists will be selected and invited to present their papers in a special session at the conference.

Awards will be given to outstanding doctoral students for demonstrating high quality research output, based on the decision of the Faculty Review Committee.

Best Paper Award (1st Prize)     Rs 20,000

Best Paper Award (2nd Prize)     Rs 15,000

The eligibility and submission guidelines for the competition are provided below.

Eligibility conditions for the competition

  • The applicant must be a doctoral student on or after April 1, 2025, and the research must have been conducted while the applicant was a doctoral student (The students who have defended their PhD dissertation before 31st March 2025 are not eligible for competition).
  • Only one paper can be submitted by an applicant.
  • The submitted paper must present the original research conducted primarily by the applicant while being a PhD student. Collaborations with other individuals (such as the applicant’s faculty advisor or other students) are permitted.
  • The topic of the paper must fall within the scope of operations and supply chain management.
  • The submitted paper can be a working paper, under review for journal publication, or accepted for journal publication. Published papers will not be accepted for the competition.

Submission Guidelines for the Student Paper Competition

  • The participant should submit extended abstract of the paper via regular conference track submission mode (i.e., before 15th August 2025)
  • A cover letter from the advisor, including a statement that the participant has met the eligibility conditions for the student paper competition.
  • Subsequently, if selected, the participant will be asked to submit a full paper in PDF format with at most 32 pages (including all references and appendices) in standard format (1" margins, double-spaced, 11-point font). Paper exceeding the page limit will be returned without review.
  • The author's name and affiliation should not appear on the full paper. This is to facilitate double-blind review.
  • Additionally, participants will be asked to submit a separate title page with details about the authors of the paper, including their name, affiliation, mailing address, email address, and contact number.

Venue

The two-day conference will be conducted in person at IIM Bangalore campus.

Accommodation

Limited accommodation is available at the Management Development Centre (MDC) at IIM Bangalore on a first-come, first-served basis. The applicable tariff, inclusive of all three meals, is as follows:

  • Rs 5,000 plus GST per room for single occupancy
  • Rs 3,750 plus GST per person for dual occupancy
