A new article co-authored by Dr. Vikas N. Prabhu and Prof. R. Srinivasan (CDPG, IIM Bangalore) has been published in Forbes India. Titled ‘Transforming India’s DPI: Shift from Scale to Ecosystem Impact’, the piece argues that India’s flagship DPIs like Aadhaar, UPI, and ONDC have successfully achieved scale, but the next frontier is broader ecosystem transformation: reshaping markets, institutions, and citizen outcomes.
The authors contend that sustainable impact depends on interconnected ecosystems involving government, businesses, and citizens, underpinned by interoperability, trust, governance, and aligned incentives. As DPIs expand into health, education, and commerce, they propose a three-tier maturity framework for assessing DPI impact, measuring innovation, inclusion, and long-term social and economic value rather than transaction volumes alone
