A paper co-authored by Prof. Sreevas Sahasranamam (University of Glasgow), Anuradha Sharma (CDPG IIMB), and Prof. R. Srinivasan (Chairperson, CDPG IIMB) was presented by Prof. Srinivasan at the R&D Management Conference 2026 in Manchester.
The paper develops a conceptual framework explaining how Digital Public Infrastructure acts as a catalyst for technological innovation and entrepreneurship. It argues that DPI’s design principles and architecture fundamentally reconfigure entrepreneurial resources and boundaries, enabling new business models, frugal capabilities, market complementarities, and lower entry barriers. By expanding market access and fostering inclusive participation, the framework highlights DPI’s potential to democratise entrepreneurship. The paper concludes with a research agenda spanning entrepreneurial opportunities, capabilities, business models, and ecosystem evolution within DPI environments.
