Programme Overview
Management teaching is a specialized competence with three specific sub-competencies: course design, class preparation and delivery, and creation of specific teaching aids. This programme seeks to address these competencies in the context of management teaching and launch participants in the trajectory of becoming successful teachers by explaining the science and art of teaching, learning, and educating.

Programme Content
Course design: Deciding the positioning of the course within the programme; designing the flow of modules and topics in the course; defining the assurance of learning (AOL) and various forms of evaluations (exams, quizzes, assignments, projects, and simulation games); and decisions around pedagogy mix in the courses.

Class preparation and delivery: Specific focus on case method of teaching; case selection, pre-class preparation, classroom choreography, student engagement, managing blackboard plans; customizing teaching styles to different audiences; creating your own teaching style.

Case writing: Specific tools and techniques for writing management cases; defining case leads and learning outcomes; writing the case narrative; sourcing data for primary and secondary cases; the case writing project as a research programme; and writing effective teaching notes.

Pedagogy
The programme uses several pedagogies, including case method of teaching.

Target Audience
Faculty from IIMs, ISB, and top private business schools with 4-6 years of experience. Close to attaining/just attained tenure

Admissions Criteria
Participants must be sponsored by the respective schools. Nominations not sponsored by schools will not be accepted.

Programme Fee
INR 1,17,500/- (Residential basis only) per person for participants from India and its equivalent in US Dollars for participants from other countries.

Early Bird Discount
Nominations received with payments on or before 19-Sept-22 will be entitled to an early bird Discount of 10%.
Early Bird Fee (Residential) INR 1,05,750/-(+ Applicable GST)

Group Discount
Group Discount of 5% percentage can be availed for a group of 3 or more participants when nominations received from the same organization.

Please Note
All enrolments are subject to review and approval by the programme director. Joining Instructions will be sent to the selected candidates 10 days prior the start of the programme.

The programme fee should be received by the Executive Education Office before the programme commencement date.

In case of cancellations, the fee will be refunded only if a request is received at least 15 days prior to the start of the programme.

If a nomination is not accepted, the fee will be refunded to the person/ organisation concerned.

A certificate of participation will be awarded to the participants by IIMB.

 

Programme Directors

Professor Sourav Mukherji teaches postgraduate courses at IIM Bangalore on Organization Design and Inclusive Business Models.

As an academician, Sourav’s expertise is in organization design – structures, processes and culture that enable organizations to achieve their strategic objectives. He has authored many case studies on social enterprises, several of which have been published online by the Harvard Business Press. Sourav has been a consultant to organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, advising them on organization design and financial sustainability. He received the UNDP Fellowship for Research in Inclusive Business Models and the Villgrow Fellowship for Research on Social Entrepreneurship.

Sourav is passionate about teaching. He receives high ratings both from young MBA students and industry practitioners attending Executive Education Programmes. He was awarded the IIMB Alumni Award for Faculty of the Year and the IBM Faculty Award. At present, he is establishing IIMB’s Centre for Teaching and Learning that is involved in research and training related to teaching methods and their effectiveness in the domain of management and leadership.
At IIM Bangalore, he has held several leadership positions such as Dean of Academic Programmes (2015 - 2018), Chairperson of the Post Graduate (MBA) Programme (2014-2015) and Chairperson Placements (2006-2009). He led IIMB’s successful efforts in getting accreditation from EQUIS, in 2010 and in 2016. He was a key member of IIMB’s leadership team involved in mentoring IIM Visakhapatnam and served as its Nodal Officer during 2015-2016.

Professor Jitamitra Desai ('JD') is currently the Chairperson, Decision Sciences Area at the Indian Institute of Management @ Bangalore (IIM-B). Prior to joining IIM-B, he held faculty positions at Lehigh University (USA) and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). JD obtained his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech and his B.Tech degree is from the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras. His research interests are broadly in the areas of data-driven optimization and quantitative decision making with applications to management problems.

JD is a well-known educator and speaker, and has given several talks on management education, including one invited by Harvard Business Publishing Education. He has also been awarded the Nanyang Education Award, a university-wide teaching excellence award at NTU; has been voted the best instructor at IIM-B by MBA students in several terms; and is also the recipient of research awards, including best paper awards in “Operations Research” and “Modeling and Simulation” at international conferences.

At IIM-B, he also serves as the Chairperson for the Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) and as a member of the MBA Program Committee. He is also on the Board of Studies for Management at Visweswaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi  and provides thought leadership to several government and industry partners on wide-ranging management issues.

 


Professor Arun Pereira is MIT-Sloan International Faculty Fellow, and Emeritus Faculty at the Chaifetz School of Business, Saint Louis University, USA. Previously he was Permanent Faculty at the Indian School of Business (2008-2018), Executive Director of ISB’s Centre for Learning and Management Practice, and Tenured Faculty at Saint Louis University (1991-2008). He is also Faculty and Teaching Coach for the International Teachers Programme (ITP) at INSEAD Fontainebleau, France, 2021-22, London Business School, UK, 2019-20; IAE-Aix Marseille, France, 2017-18; and CEIBS, Shanghai and Beijing, China, 2015-16.

Arun has over 30 years teaching experience in the US, Europe, and Asia. He has published extensively, and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards, both at ISB-Hyderabad, India and at the Boeing Institute of International Business, Saint Louis University, USA.
