Mr. N. Karthik is currently Adviser to the IIMB-Real Estate Research Initiative (IIMB-RERI) and also a data scientist. He was one of the 30 Young Leaders under 40 to represent India on a governance expedition to Israel in Oct 2018. His core interests are public policy, infrastructure, and data driven solutions to governance. Ever since his association with IIMB-RERI in 2014, he has pivotally shaped up the Initiative to its current state.

Mr. Karthik co-authored the Government of India (MoHUA) and the National Housing Bank (NHB)’s report on “A Revenue Neutral Approach to Lower Stamp Duty and Registration Charges for Affordable Housing” (link-11, link-22). Further, he has also provided deep insights on financing of infrastructure funding and capitalisation. He also led the studies for the Airspace Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) to estimate the optimal Cost of Equity (CoE) for large infrastructure projects like airports. The “Study on the Determinants of Cost of Capital Pertaining to Delhi and Mumbai Airports” [link-3[1] Pg (677 – 763)/860, link-4[2] Pg. (607 – 695)/798] was accepted and implemented by the AERA. Other governments and governmental Organisations that have benefitted from his work include the Government of Karnataka, HUDCO, etc. His other public policy works include rationalising circle rates or guidance values, leveraging stamp duty rates to provide impetus to PMAY, NPAs in the housing sector, etc.

His public good initiative on www.rajakaluve.org was a project to help Bangaloreans find if any land parcel is situated on a storm water drain. Also, as a data scientist, Mr. Karthik has held various positions in a number of Corporates and startups. He started his career in the Pharmaceutical Industry with MarketRx Inc. (now Cognizant EAP) and has 14+ years of experience in industry as well as academia. Some of the prominent organisations to that have benefitted from his services in the past include eBay Inc., NettPositive (now Equifax), etc. He has extensively worked across sectors and domains and is also a corporate member of the Institute of Engineers, India. Academically, he is an alumnus of the R. V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bangalore and also the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT B). He secured an All India Rank 27 in GATE.
