    About the Workshop

National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in India carries out large-scale national-level surveys for capturing several important variables pertaining to the Indian economy. This includes employment–unemployment situation of individuals and households, households’ consumption expenditure pattern, status of unorganized enterprises, education and health status of households, debt and investment survey, and the situation assessment of agricultural household etc. In addition, the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) of Central Statistical Office (CSO) carries out surveys of the organized manufacturing sector enterprises and provides large-scale data for research. However, researchers often find it difficult to get hold of the aforementioned unit level datasets and end up doing research based on the reports-based data only. Therefore, the objective of the workshop is to provide training on handling/working with large scale datasets like NSSO Unit level data and ASI data using SPSS and STATA.
