The Tony James Centre for Private Equity and Venture Capital at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is a forward-looking initiative dedicated to advancing thought leadership, education, and policy influence in the fields of Private Equity (PE) and Venture Capital (VC).
The Centre is named in honour of Tony James, former President, Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Vice Chairman of Blackstone, one of the world’s most renowned alternative investment firms. Widely respected for his strategic leadership and innovation, Mr. James played a pivotal role in building Blackstone into a global financial powerhouse.
The establishment of the Centre has been made possible through the visionary philanthropic support of Mr. Mathew Cyriac, alumnus of IIM Bangalore (PGP 1994), and a distinguished investor and entrepreneur. As the Founder and Executive Chairman of Florintree Advisors, Mr. Cyriac has championed responsible investing, entrepreneurship, and education. His contribution exemplifies a deep commitment to giving back and shaping future generations of finance professionals.
Rooted in IIMB’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence, the Centre is designed to be a global platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together faculty, students, industry leaders, regulators, and entrepreneurs. It will foster rigorous research, promote innovative pedagogy, and enable practical engagement with the evolving landscape of private capital.
