IIMB bids adieu to….

Professor Vatsala Nagarajan

IIM Bangalore reports with sadness the passing away of Professor Vatsala Nagarajan, a faculty stalwart, on May 15.

Professor Vatsala Nagarajan joined IIM Bangalore on February 1, 1974, in the Finance area. She served as Dean from April 18, 1991 to September 30, 1992, before retiring from the services of the Institute on September 30, 1992. An outstanding teacher, friend, guide, and mentor to students, staff and faculty, Professor Vatsala was always approachable, supportive and positive.

On 27th July, 2018, ‘Guru Purnima’ day, IIM Bangalore had dedicated a classroom at the IIMB campus in her name. This effort was led by the PGP Class of 1992. This was the first time in the history of IIMB that the school had a classroom named after a faculty member. On that day, the 86-year-old professor was accompanied by her husband for the dedication.

Prof. G. Raghuram, Director, IIMB, said: “There were two occasions when I met Professor Vatsala over the last year. Her sense of humour and positive approach, inspite of her physical suffering, were refreshing and inspiring.”
