Professor Moloy Bannerjee served as a faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) from October 1976 to October 1981, contributing significantly to the Institute’s early academic development. after a successful corporate career with TELCO he transitioned from industry to academia, affiliating with the Production and Operations Management area and the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) in IIMB. At IIMB, he taught core courses in the Post Graduate Programme (PGP), including Materials Management, Project Management, Working Capital Management, and Probability and Statistics, besides contributing to the Fellowship Programme (FPM) and several Management Development Programmes (MDPs) and Organisation-Based Programmes (OBPs). His executive education initiatives spanned diverse themes such as Occupational and Mental Health in Industry, Inventory Management, and Public Systems Management. He also played a pivotal role in curriculum reform, particularly in designing the Social Involvement Project (SIP), which integrated management education with societal engagement. His research interests extended to rural development, energy use in edible oil processing, malaria eradication, and command area development, alongside consultancy assignments with Bharat Heavy Plates and Vessels, Oriental Insurance, and the Government of Kerala. Bannerjee also co-developed entrepreneurial and vocational syllabi and contributed case studies for teaching.
