Interview with Prof. T. Krishna Kumar

This month, our Oral History Narratives page has added another interview – with Prof. T. Krishna Kumar, who served the institute from 28 September 1978 to 16 December 1986, his primary affiliation being with the Habitat Sector and secondary affiliation with the Centre for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD).

In conversation with Prof. K. Kumar, Prof. T. Krishna Kumar spoke about how he came to join IIMB after being interviewed in Boston by IIMB’s first director Prof. N. S. Ramaswamy; the roles of academic administration that he shouldered which included that of Coordinator of the Fellow Program in Management (FPM), Convenor of the Consultancy Review Committee, Chair of the Departmental Canteen Committee. Prof. Krishna Kumar spoke of IIMB’s early sectoral orientation and how his earlier experience as a consultant in the US dealing with contracts with the US federal government had added to the course work that he developed for the OBPs he conducted for public sector enterprises in India; his research and consultancy projects in the Habitat Sector.
