26 September, 2023, Bengaluru: As part of the weeklong celebrations of the 50th anniversary of IIM Bangalore, a Hindi play titled, ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ will be presented at the institute by the troupe ‘TheatreNama’, on 29th October 2023.
The students’ theatre club at IIMB, Goonj, is involved in the hosting of the play. The play, which will be staged at 7:30 pm on 29th October 2023 at the IIMB Auditorium, is open to all.
‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ is written by actor-playwright-poet Piyush Mishra and directed by Aashish Rana. Bhagat Singh, the revolutionary hero of the Indian independence movement, is a legend who needs no introduction. There are a plethora of ideas surrounding what went into making him a legend of that magnitude, what drove him to attain the kind of determination that enabled him to fast for over 114 days! Was he just a revolutionary freedom fighter, or was he much more than that? ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ chronicles the thought process and the experiences of one of the greatest minds that shaped the course of the Indian freedom movement.
Established in Bangalore in 2021, TheatreNama offers theatre in a varied mix of genres, aiming to reach a wide audience through their captivating performances. The troupe has a strength of about 140 members who strive to create a community of theatre lovers.
Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon’ble President of India, will launch the Golden Jubilee Foundation Week celebrations of IIM Bangalore on 26th October 2023, with an address, the release of a book on the IIMB campus as well as a film on IIMB, and a 50-hour Golden Jubilee relay walkathon by alumni, students, faculty and staff. The Foundation Day on 28th October will feature a lecture by American Economist Prof. Rebecca M Henderson of the Harvard Business School. A host of activities are in store to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
