Supply Chain Management Centre
IIMB has been actively pursuing Supply Chain Management as a major area of teaching and research. With a distinguished faculty line-up including world-class scholars and a talented pool of researchers and doctoral students (Fellow Programme in Management), IIMB has carried out dedicated research, teaching and consulting activities in different aspects of Supply Chain Management covering logistics management, inbound/outbound transportation, network design, modeling and optimization, partnership and negotiation, information technology and e-commerce and end-to-end Supply Chain Management strategies.
Recognizing the need for an effective mechanism to promote closer and enduring industry-institute collaboration, IIMB has started the SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CENTRE (SCMC), a strategic multidisciplinary Centre of Excellence within IIMB, dedicated to carrying out specialized theoretical and applied research on Supply Chain Management with participation from a multidisciplinary faculty and industry practitioners. The Centre builds on the strengths of IIMB in research, education, and integration of inter-functional business disciplines to serve as a valuable knowledge-generating resource, and contributes to the development of cutting-edge strategies and practical solutions to problems encountered by organizations in the management of end-to-end supply chains.

OUR MISSION
The mission of the Supply Chain Management Centre is to bring together practitioners from leading organizations and IIMB faculty and students to identify, document, research, develop and disseminate best practices in Supply Chain Management.
The mandate of the Centre includes:

In a world where supply chains are increasingly shaped by sustainability imperatives, technological disruptions, and geopolitical shifts, the Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) stands committed to addressing these complex challenges through world-class research, education, and industry engagement.
COO SCMC

Dr. Aditya Gupta is the Chief Operations Officer of the Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) and the TCI–IIMB Supply Chain Sustainability Lab at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). He brings 29 years of experience spanning supply chain management, ESG and sustainability, general management, finance, and sales, across industry and academia.
He holds a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, an MBA, and a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, and is certified in ESG Investing by the CFA Institute. He is also an IICA-certified Independent Director under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, with expertise in board-level ESG oversight, governance, and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining IIM Bangalore, Dr. Gupta held senior leadership roles with leading Indian and multinational organizations, including the TVS Group, Tata Group, Virgin Group, Moser Baer, Jindal Group, Essar Group, and SRF Ltd., gaining extensive experience across logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure, telecom, and international trade.
At IIM Bangalore, Dr. Gupta plays a key role in institution-building, applied research, and industry engagement, with a focus on integrating sustainability into supply chain systems. He led the development of the Transportation Emissions Measurement Tool (TEMT)—the only India-specific freight emissions tool certified under ISO 14083—which has been adopted and is hosted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India. He has also led the development of a Carbon Accounting Tool supporting Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions measurement and BRSR Core reporting, with particular relevance for Indian industry and MSMEs.
He actively collaborates with government bodies, industry, and academia on sustainability research, standards, and policy initiatives, contributing to national efforts on emissions measurement, disclosure, and green logistics. Dr. Gupta is the author of a Harvard Business Publishing case study on India’s first Green Steel initiative and has authored multiple white papers and thought leadership articles on ESG, carbon management, and sustainable supply chains.
Deeply engaged in capacity building and executive education, Dr. Gupta leads a 12-week ESG and Sustainability programme hosted on the Government of India’s SWAYAM platform, designed for industry professionals, policymakers, and practitioners. The course is offered in both English and Hindi, enabling wider national access and impact.
Dr. Gupta serves on several national and international committees and expert groups, including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/TC 344) as an Indian expert representative, the Expert Advisory Committee for Karnataka’s Voluntary GHG Disclosure Scheme, and NITI Aayog’s E-FAST platform, contributing to the development of standards and policy frameworks for sustainable and low-carbon logistics.
Advisory Council
The SCMC functions under the direction of a senior faculty member of IIMB and is supported by an Advisory Council consisting of corporate sponsors’ representatives and the Institute’s nominees.
The Advisory Council is responsible for identifying and determining the research agenda of the Centre. It also formulates the Centre's policies and provides direction for research areas and research priorities.

With a remarkable professional tenure spanning more than 23 years, Ganesh has accumulated extensive expertise in various areas, including Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Factory Planning, Demand-Supply Planning (Asia-Pacific and Global), as well as Collaborative Planning and Sales and Operations Planning (SNOP) within the IT and FMCG industries. He holds an MBA from SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, along with an engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology Durgapur.
S Ravichandran
Deputy Managing Director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited

Mr. Ravichandran is the Deputy Managing Director of TVS Supply Chain Solutions Limited and manages all its subsidiaries. He has a total experience of 26 years, of which he has spent the last 16 years in the supply chain sector.
He is a specialist in the Indian logistics industry, particularly in the automobile sector. He is widely regarded to be a thought leader in establishing new processes in the Indian logistics scenario. He a management graduate from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and Bachelor of Engineering (Agriculture) from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

Mr. Ramakrishnan heads the Product Placement Planning & Integrated Margin Management Group in Corporate Office, managing planning from Crude to Road for maximizing margins across the Corporation.
A graduate of NIT Trichy, he has handled various facets of Terminal Operation in formative years & went on to head a Terminal. Moved up from Terminal Operations to All India Supply Chain. Managing all India Supply Chain for 8 years. He was instrumental in transforming to a more agile, independent and effective Supply Chain managing all four modes viz. Pipelines, Marine, Rail and Road. He has designed, implemented and successfully managed Inventory Management System in HPCL. He has been with the Integrated Margin Management Group since April 2015.
