Prof. Arnab Mukherji presents comparative insights on Primary Health Care (PHC) reforms at NUS
Professor Arnab Mukherji, Chairperson of the PGPPM programme and faculty of Public Policy, participated in the regional roundtable on ‘Strengthening Primary Health Care Through Evidence-Informed Policy and Practice’ at the National University of Singapore. The gathering on December 9-10, 2025, brought together policymakers, researchers, implementers, and development partners from across Asia to exchange lessons from ongoing PHC reforms, reflect on how evidence is shaping those reforms, and co-develop strategies to strengthen the integration of research into decision-making.

Panel at the International Conference on Public Policy and Management – IIM Bangalore
At the 20th International Conference on Public Policy and Management (IIM Bangalore), the consortium organized a panel on “Strengthening Universal Health Coverage: Insights from India’s Primary Healthcare Landscape.”
Panelists included senior government officials from Jharkhand and Karnataka, alongside members of the PHC4UHC Consortium. The discussion highlighted state-level innovations, implementation challenges, and lessons for advancing UHC through PHC reforms in India.

Symposium Series on Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs)
The PHC4UHC team at IIM Bangalore, in collaboration with the Indian Institutes of Management at Ranchi, Shillong, and Udaipur, is hosting a series of symposia on “Implementation of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs: Challenges and the Way Forward.”
The events bring together policymakers, academics, and healthcare professionals to share insights and generate actionable ideas for strengthening primary health care delivery through AAMs across India.

A draft working paper from the consortium’s secondary data analysis was presented at the 25th Biennial Conference of the Association of Indian Economic and Financial Studies (AIEFS), held at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA).
The paper, featured in the Health, Education and Human Development session, examined district-level PHC–UHC linkages using a novel PHC Inputs Index.

Satellite Session at Health Systems Research 2024 – Nagasaki, Japan
The PHC4UHC India Consortium hosted a Satellite Session at the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR 2024) in Nagasaki, Japan.
The session, titled “Pathways from Primary Health Care to Universal Health Coverage: A Learning Lab to Examine Insights Linking Global Evidence and Local Practice,” was part of the sub-theme Knowledge for Just Health Systems.
Chaired by Daniela Rodriguez (WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research), the panel included consortium members and invited experts Piya Hanvoravongchai (Thailand), Meghan Bruce Kumar (UK/Kenya), and Prashanth NS (India).
Using a participatory learning lab approach, the session explored how PHC processes and mechanisms drive UHC outcomes, sharing evidence from India and beyond, and fostering collaborative learning on strengthening PHC–UHC linkages globally.
