IIMB’s Alumni Office to host webinar on ‘Business opportunities in the vegan/plant-based market’ on August 14

13 August, 2020, Bengaluru: The Alumni Office of IIM Bangalore will host a webinar titled ‘Business opportunities in the vegan/plant based market’, on August 14 (Friday), 2020, at 03.00 pm. The webinar will be led by IIMB alumnus B. G. Shivakumar (PGP 2002), founder of Tamu Tamu, a vegan meal delivery business.

Some of the topics to be covered during the webinar include: an introduction to vegan ethics; why people go vegan/plant based - health and nutrition, environment, ethics; main vegan products - mock meats, lab meats, cosmetics, beverages, cars, etc.; challenges of setting up and running a vegan business; vegan investing, and veganism and politics.

About the speaker: B. G. Shivakumar is the founder of Tamu Tamu, a vegan meal delivery business based in Chennai. He has been vegan and an animal rights activist for over 12 years. He founded and ran a vegan group at Barclays in London while he was employed there and more recently founded the IIT Madras alumni vegans group which spreads awareness on veganism in the alumni community. He believes the market for vegan products is all set to take off in a big way in India in the next two to three years as awareness on the animal rights movement spreads, as also the health and environmental benefits of a plant-based diet.
