Accolades for Professor Rupa Chanda related to her research in Trade in Services

Dr Rupa Chanda, Professor in the Economics and Social Sciences area at IIMB has recently received several honours in recognition of her contribution to research in Trade in Services.

 

She has been nominated by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs to be a Member of the Academic Working Group on India-EU Labour Mobility Partnership, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and European Commission.

 

She has also been nominated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to be a Member of the International Roster of Health Experts.

 

The Ministry of Commerce of the Government of India has nominated Dr Chanda to serve as a member of the Advisory Board for the Services Export Promotion Council.

 

Dr Rupa Chanda teaches courses in Macroeconomics and Managerial Economics and delivers lectures on International Trade and WTO issues in various programmes. Prior to joining IIMB in 1997, she had worked as an Economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. She has held short-term research appointments at the World Bank and the United Nations and has been a consultant for various Indian and international organizations such as OECD, WHO and ILO. Dr Chanda's research interests concern multi-lateral trade liberalization, WTO and services, regional integration, and migration.

 

Dr Rupa Chanda is a PhD in Economics from Columbia University, with specialization in International Trade, and has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Harvard University.
