The discussion will be around his latest book: ‘The Last Heroes: Foot Soldiers of Indian Freedom’

17 July, 2023, Bengaluru: The Centre for Public Policy and Executive Post Graduate Programme at IIM Bangalore will host a talk on: ‘Who were our freedom fighters’, to be led by Magsaysay award winner P Sainath, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on 21st July 2023, at Classroom N-201. The discussion will be around his latest book: ‘The Last Heroes: Foot Soldiers of Indian Freedom’. The talk will be followed by an interaction with the speaker.

P Sainath is an acclaimed journalist with several awards to his name like Ramon Magsaysay Award, PUCL Human Rights Journalism award, among others. He is known for his significant work on famine, hunger and poverty. He has written extensively on rural India.

He founded the People's Archive of Rural India (PARI) in 2014, an online platform that focuses on social and economic inequality, rural affairs, poverty and the aftermath of globalization in India. PARI brings forth the news and concerns of the unheard voices of rural India. He was a senior fellow at Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, and was earlier the Rural Affairs Editor at The Hindu.
