Panel Discussion on Blockchain

Date:  January 19, 2018

Venue: L12 Classroom

Time: 2:30 pm – 4.00 pm

Programme Overview:

The term Blockchain has been shaking the finance sector in particular, for a while now. Blockchain technology is frequently being described by words like ‘disruptive’, ‘game changer’ or ‘revolution’. It is also viewed more as a foundational technology with the potential to create new foundations for global economic and social systems, than a disruptive technology.

Blockchain protocols facilitate businesses to use new methods of processing digital transactions. Examples include a payment system, digital currency, facilitating crowdsales and even generic governance tools in areas of land registry, tax collection, etc.

In this seminar, we bring together four eminent professionals to present this from the perspective of an IT service provider covering the areas of Payments, Financial Inclusion (payment systems concerning Rural Areas), etc.

Programme Objective

This session is aimed at presenting Blockchain from the perspective of IT service providers and to illustrate the application of Blockchain in areas such as machine payments, financial inclusion, enabling payment systems in the bottom of the pyramid. The participants will be able to:

  2. Understand the wider applicability
  3. Get a view of the risks and pitfalls
  4. Understand the views of regulatory bodies such as the Reserve Bank of India
