IIM Bangalore to celebrate Hindi Day on September 14

Day’s events include slogan writing contest

08 September, 2017, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore will celebrate Hindi Day on September 14 (Thursday), 2017 from 10.30 am onwards, at N001 & N203. Ever since Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Union by the Constituent Assembly on September 14, 1949, this day is celebrated as Hindi Day, according to the guidelines laid down by the Department of Official Language.

IIMB Director Professor G. Raghuram will address the gathering. The day’s activities will include ‘Kavya Goshthi’ by Dr. Mangal Prasad, Sr. Manager (Retired), KIOCL, Bangalore, and Editor of ‘Bhasha Spandan’, and group. This will be followed by a slogan writing competition with cash prizes ranging from INR 500 to INR 1500.

To promote the progressive use of Hindi, the Hindi Cell at IIMB organizes several activities every year such as workshops, competitions, Hindi Day/Hindi Fortnight celebrations, computer programs in Hindi, besides implementing the Annual Programme of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, Government of India.

IIM Bangalore has been presented the Rajbhasha Award – Third for the year 2016-17, by the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (0-1), Bangalore. The award was presented on July 27, 2017 at the ISRO Satellite Centre, Bengaluru.
