The Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship (CCGC) at IIM Bangalore has played a leading role in the enhancement of Corporate Governance and Citizenship in the country. The LeaderSpeak dialogue series is an ongoing engagement with leaders on issues concerning Governance, Ethics, Sustainability and Responsible Business. Transparency and disclosure are essential elements of good governance, and are widely recognized by various stakeholders, regulators and academicians as a powerful tool for market efficiency. Not long ago, management determined what was relevant and stakeholders were notified on a need-to-know basis. Regulators, on the other hand, have been focusing on disclosure requirements to induce discipline and facilitate efficient capital markets. The impact on financial reporting, corporate sustainability and responsibility reporting is fast becoming a popular way for companies to give stakeholders a snapshot of their social, environmental, risk, and governance performance.
IIMB CCGC held a webinar titled, ‘Corporate Reporting Dialogue: Future of Corporate Transparency and Disclosures’, on August 26 (Thursday), 2021.
The webinar consisted of a panel discussion featuring R Mukundan, MD and CEO, Tata Chemicals Ltd, G Mahalingam, Wholetime Director, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), V Srinivasa Rangan, Executive Director, HDFC Ltd and Amit Bajoria, Senior VP, Finance & Global Controller, Wipro Ltd. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship and faculty in the Finance & Accounting area of IIMB. The panel discussion was followed by a Q&A session.
