Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi to inaugurate XVII International Conference on Public Policy & Management at IIMB on 22nd August

Former DoPT Secretary Dr C Chandramouli, Prof. M Govinda Rao and Prof. Virginius Xaxa will address special sessions at the conference organised by the Centre for Public Policy

12 August, 2022, Bengaluru: Former Governor of West Bengal and former diplomat Gopalkrishna Gandhi will deliver the inaugural address titled, ‘Pre-autumnal Reflections – 2022’ at 9:00 am on 22nd August at the XVII International Conference on Public Policy & Management, organised by the Centre for Public Policy at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore, will chair the session while Prof. Arnab Mukherji, from the Centre for Public Policy at IIMB will moderate the discussion which will take place at the IIMB Auditorium.

Prof. MS Sriram, Chairperson, Centre for Public Policy, announced that there will be a special pre-conference event – a panel discussion on Prof. M Govinda Rao’s recent book, ‘Studies in Indian Public Finance’ between 6:30 pm and 8 pm on 21st August. Prof. M. Govinda Rao is on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Public Policy.  The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Rajalaxmi Kamath, from IIMB, and the panellists include Prof. NR Bhanumurthy, Vice Chancellor, Babasaheb Ambedkar School of Economics, Vinod Vyasulu, President, CBPS, and M. Govinda Rao.

The conference is for academicians, policy regulators, NGO professionals and others with an interest in Public Policy. This year, the conference will be held in an offline mode at the IIM Bangalore campus, adhering to all health and safety guidelines relating to Covid-19.

From women’s inheritance rights to transgender rights, and from inclusive social growth to climate change and sustainable development, researchers will be presenting around 50 papers at two parallel sessions over two-and-a-half days, during the conference. The primary themes for this year’s conference include Social and Income Security (including UBI, DBT and other initiatives); Social Movements; Climate Change; and Emerging Role of Technology including Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.
