Tanvi Gupta Wins Dissertation Proposal Award

Marketing Ph.D. student at IIMB is one of the co-winners of the 2018 ACR/Sheth Foundation Dissertation Proposal Award

Tanvi Gupta, a doctoral scholar in the Marketing area at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, is one of the winners of the 2018 ACR-Sheth Foundation Dissertation Award for her proposal titled, ‘Tightness for Control or Looseness for Autonomy? Using the Interplay of Cultural Values and Conceptual Metaphors in Visual Design’.

Under the guidance of her advisor, Professor Avinash Mulky, Tanvi’s thesis explores facets of cognitive semiotics and cross-cultural psychology in brand aesthetics.

The Association for Consumer Research (ACR) is a prestigious conference in marketing, with a special focus on consumer behaviour. The ACR-Sheth Foundation provides annual awards for top doctoral dissertations on topics in the areas of public purpose or cross-cultural research.  These awards are funded by The Sheth Foundation, founded by Dr. Jagdish Sheth and Madhu Sheth. The award comes with a gift of $2300 in addition to a plaque that will be announced at the 2018 ACR conference in Dallas, Texas, this October.
