Professor of Practice

In order to be considered for the Associate or Full Professor of Practice, the individual must have more than 10 years of experience in industry or government in senior positions with demonstrated understanding of and impact on practice and has the interest and potential to teach LDP courses as a full- time activity.

The candidates must preferably hold a PhD, but it is not an essential criterion. A lack of PhD must be offset by demonstrated domain knowledge, obtained from the ‘field’.

The candidates shall be evaluated for their exceptional contributions either because of their unique expertise (that is not available internally) or because of their potential contribution to the institute through teaching quality and exceptional service.

Professor of Practice in Accounting

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore seeks applications for appointment on contract as Professor of Practice to teach financial accounting and/or management accounting. Applicants should be chartered accountants or cost accountants.

Specific Position Description for Professor of Practice: for CenComm: The IIMB Centre for Management Communication

Professor of Practice CenComm: the IIMB Centre for Management Communication

The Institute invites applications for the position of Professor of Practice in CenComm, the IIMB Centre for Management Communication. More information about the CenComm and its activities is available at https://www.iimb.ac.in/centres-of-excellence/centre-for-management-communication. This invitation is to be read in conjunction with the general job description posted on the IIMB web site at https://www.iimb.ac.in/professor-of-practice. The position(s) on offer are full-time contractual positions in the Institute, and carry allowances and amenities routinely extended to other full-time members of the faculty.

1. Responsibilities: The primary role of a Professor of Practice will be to design and teach management communication courses in Long Duration, Executive Education and MOOC Programmes. Additionally, she/he will be expected to carry out workshops and other related educational programmes for internal as well as external stakeholders. The Professor of Practice will also be expected to support CenComm activities through sponsorships and consulting assignments. She/he will also be expected to identify and induct adjunct teachers and to coordinate the courses and activities conducted by CenComm. Other activities include the development of cases, teaching aids and assessment methods in the management communication area.

2. Qualification & Industry Experience: Applicants could hold a PhD; however, this requirement will be waived if she/he is a post-graduate in management from a reputed educational institute with over 15 years of industry experience in sales, marketing, corporate communications, media and public relations or other areas relevant to management communication. The applicant will have specialist knowledge in the domain, expertise that will complement the available within IIMB and be able to bring practice-oriented teaching frameworks into the classroom.

3. Teaching Experience: Selected applicants will already be teaching one or more full courses in management communication or closely related areas in business schools of repute in India or abroad. She/he will be able to design and launch new courses independently. The applicant shall have teaching feedback/scores of a high order to support their ability to teach at IIMB.

4. Profile: Selected candidates will typically be or have been senior managers with a strong track record with substantial contributions to their fields and currently have extensive networks of contacts in the field. They will be people who have the potential to contribute uniquely and substantially to the Institute and in the field of management communication. Selected candidates will be excellent communicators in English and other languages.
