MOOCs

The Centre for Management Communication has been offering a MOOC titled “Health Communication” on the IIMBx platform. Designed and delivered by Professor Deepti Ganapathy, member of the faculty at IIM Bangalore, the course aims to equip healthcare practitioners with essential communication skills across various contexts in health management.

The MOOC was first launched on 26 August 2022, as part of the Certificate Programme in Health Management, enrolling over 100 participants. It was offered again on 12 October 2024, and a newly updated version was released for the third time on 24 January 2025.

Structured into six modules, the course spans approximately six weeks. Each module includes around 90 minutes of recorded video content, along with assessments, case studies, and discussion forums to facilitate engagement and application of concepts.

The curriculum covers key areas such as:

  • Health literacy
  • Message development
  • Cultural competency
  • Digital media in health
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Ethical considerations in health communication

To enrich the learning experience, the course features in-depth interviews (each lasting around 45 minutes) with notable experts, including:

  • Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman and Founder, Narayana Health
  • Professor Roma Subramanian, Health Communication Expert, University of Nebraska at Omaha

Additional insights are shared through interviews with: Tina D Purnat, Sunitha Rao, Dr. Neha Pawar, Heeta Lakhani, Dr. Poorvi Bhat, Dr. Usha Rani, Dr. Murlidhara Bhat, and Dr. Rekha Narasimhan.
