Elective Course offered by CMC: CEO's Agenda - Towards Climate Action

In today’s world of accelerating environmental challenges, senior executives are no longer just business leaders—they are strategic catalysts for climate action and resilience. The role of the CEO has evolved, with a clear call to act decisively on climate adaptation and embed sustainability at every level of the organization.

This course is designed by Prof. Deepti Ganapathy, member of faculty in IIM Bangalore for students to explore critical questions that define the future of climate-conscious leadership:

  • How can CEOs align their organizational goals with national climate agendas?
  • What strategies enable buy-in across the value chain, especially when building Scope 3 and 4 emissions frameworks?
  • Is ESG a risk to be managed—or a lever for growth?
  • What are the emerging growth dimensions driven by ESG adoption across industries?
  • How is the ESG agenda effectively cascaded throughout an organization?

Through interactive sessions, real-world case studies, and guest lectures from industry leaders, participants gain practical insights into how top executives:

  • Craft and execute climate-forward strategies
  • Reduce carbon footprints
  • Champion green innovation
  • Embed sustainability into corporate culture

The course also delves into how geopolitical shifts, media narratives, and evolving government regulations influence executive decision-making in the ESG landscape. The elective course is offered by the Centre to the PGP, EPGP and PGPEM programmes.

Join us at the forefront of the sustainable business revolution—where climate action isn’t just a responsibility, but a competitive edge.

Professor Deepti Ganapathy took the students of the elective class for a field visit at the Toyota Kirloskar Plant, Bengaluru on 2nd February 2025

The BPIM - Switzerland (Business Planning for International Markets) course is an Elective for PGP

BPIM - In 2014, IIMB launched a 3-credit course titled Business Planning for International Markets (BPIM) to strengthen internationalization of research and teaching programs. In addition to creating international exposure for students, the initiative helps faculty further their geography-specific research as they interact with local universities, organizations, and research centres.

The course involves around 8-10 days of immersion (of which 5 days are business meetings/visits and remaining for understanding the country with respect to its culture, context, and business opportunities).  A few sessions are conducted at IIMB before and after the travel.

This year, Professor Deepti Ganapathy and Professor Rusha Das have designed the BPIM to Switzerland.
