Persuasive Policy Writing — A & B

The Persuasive Policy Writing modules (Part A in Term 3 and Part B in Term 6) form a crucial component of the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Designed to refine the analytical and communication capabilities of experienced policy practitioners, the courses focus on transforming complex evidence and administrative insights into persuasive and actionable policy recommendations. Part A introduces the essentials of structure, clarity, and argumentation, guiding participants to translate research and field data into concise, audience-focused policy briefs and memos. Building on this foundation, Part B advances these competencies through practice-driven learning and global frameworks, emphasizing strategic framing, stakeholder engagement, and high-impact policy communication across diverse governance contexts.

These courses are specifically designed for government officials, policymakers, and professionals involved in public policy formulation and implementation. By sequencing the modules across the PGPPM journey—Part A early in Term 3 to strengthen the fundamentals of persuasive writing, and Part B in Term 6 to cultivate advanced strategic communication skills—participants progressively build the capacity to influence decision-making at senior administrative and policy levels. Together, the two modules bridge the gap between policy analysis and policy action, enabling participants to craft writing that informs, persuades, and drives meaningful public outcomes.
