In his talk, Centre for Educational & Social Studies President Prof. M.K. Sridhar listed integrated and holistic approach towards education and focus on learning outcomes among the guiding principles of NEP 2020 

09 November, 2021, Bengaluru: The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at IIM Bangalore hosted Prof. M.K. Sridhar, President, Centre for Educational and Social Studies (CESS), Member, the University Grants Commission (UGC), National Steering Committee-NEP, NCF, for a webinar titled, ‘National Education Policy (NEP) and its Impact on the Education Landscape in India’, on November 08 (Monday), 2021, at 06.00 pm, as part of the Samiksha series of webinars. 

In his talk, Prof. Sridhar presented the guiding principles of NEP 2020 which provide clarity on the spirit and intent of the policy. He listed them as: an integrated and holistic approach towards education; focus on learning outcomes; respect for diversity; addressing local needs; primacy to Indian languages, and an India-centred education system.

The talk was moderated by Prof. Abhoy K. Ojha, Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area, IIM Bangalore, and the Founder-Dean of Shiv Nadar University in Chennai. He is the Dean of the School of Commerce and Management, Shiv Nadar University, helping with the design and launch of programmes to meet the emerging higher education demands in the region and country. Prof. Ojha referred to the NEP 2020 as an attempt to regain confidence in India’s past and connect with India’s uniqueness, and chart out a path to the nation’s political, economic and intellectual freedom.

The webinar on November 08 was the first in a series of two webinars to be held on the National Education Policy (NEP). The twin webinars on NEP, the second of which will be held on November 15, 2021, would be the 6th and 7th of CTL’s Samiksha series of webinars, a series that invites learners and educations alike.

About the speaker: Prof. M.K. Sridhar is also President of the Yuvaka Sangha, EC Member of the Central University of Kerala and NAAC. He was a member of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE), MHRD, All India Board of Management Studies, AICTE, Executive Council of the Central University of Gujarat and Vice President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka. He was nominated by MHRD as a member of a committee to draft the National Education Policy under the Chairmanship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan, between 2017 and 2019.
