Webinar on Cinema as a Learning Tool

Webinar on Cinema as a Learning Tool

17 MAY, 2022: The Centre for Teaching and Learning hosted an online discussion on Cinema as a learning Tool in Higher Education, on May 12th, as part of its Samiksha series of webinars.

The discussants were Prof. Raghunath S, from the Strategy area at IIM Bangalore, and Dr. S Seshadri, former professor, NIMHANS, who shared their perspectives about using cinema as a teaching-learning tool.

Prof. Raghunath talked about the ways of using cinema as a learning tool in the Management education space and the ways to assess the knowledge acquired through this medium. Dr. Seshadri talked about the intent-content paradigm he applies while using cinema in his classes and training sessions, and the points one must consider while making them integral part of a programme, course, and curriculum.

They agreed that cinema watching and organizing discussions around films watched must be made a regular activity in higher educational institutes for its greater acceptance and use as a pedagogical tool.
