IIMB’s Business Analytics & Intelligence Batch 11 students win datathon organized by NASSCOM and netwrk.ai
04 May, 2021, Bengaluru: Students of IIM Bangalore’s Business Analytics & Intelligence (BAI) Batch 11 have won a datathon held recently as part of the Innovate2Build – I2B initiative by KTECH CoE DS & AI (The Centre of Excellence for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, an initiative of the Government of Karnataka), powered by the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) and netwrk.ai.
The students participated in the I2B challenge and built a component of the AI engine for the start-up netwrk.ai. The component of the AI engine will help the netwrk.ai platform in predicting the desired business results. This was a perfect example of objective and pragmatic collaboration between enterprises, start-ups and the academia.
The hackathon project was initiated as an open invitation to the Data Science students. Four teams were selected after initial evaluation. Two teams were selected from the four for the final round, which were: Team AlphaReboot comprising Kalaiyarasan Venkatesan, Pratosha Hegde, Nirmal Ramrakhyani and R Jeya Sri, and Team KD comprising Sriram Subramoney and Kaumod Mishra.
These teams worked under the guidance of netwrk.ai, NASSCOM and IIMB’s Data Centre & Analytics Lab (DCAL) for developing of the component of AI engine. This was an exploration journey together and the students’ curiosity helped the business teams refine the specs of the AI engine and achieve the end goal. The students from both teams successfully completed the challenge despite academic, work-related and other commitments in a difficult year.
At the end of the evaluation, Team AlphaReboot was selected as the hackathon winner based on the final delivery, the model design, a frontend for the business parameters and API for integration with the core platform.
Team KD also performed very well and was selected as the runner-up.
