IIMB honors Karnataka Rajyotsava with an ode to language, heritage and tradition
Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, IPS, graces gathering
6 December, 2024, Bengaluru: The Staff Recreation Committee at IIMB brought together the entire campus community in celebration of the State festival, Karnataka Rajyotsava, on 6 December 2024.
The annual event, significant to IIMB’s cultural ethos, witnessed Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti IPS, Director, Kannada and Culture Department, Government of Karnataka, as the Chief Guest of the event.
Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, who has made important contributions towards poetry, fiction, criticism and translation in Kannada, shared a compelling narrative about Kannada’s origins, its deep historical roots, and the journey of its growth as a language. She spoke of how a language lives and thrives through its connection to cultural and social frameworks and chalked up Kannada’s relevance in the global context to the people’s continued, collective action.
The celebrations were also marked by a ‘kamsale’ performance, a sumptuous special lunch at the canteen.
Prof. M Jayadev, Finance & Accounting area, Col. SD Aravendan, Chief Administrative Officer, and SRC President Komala Devi felicitated the special guests.
