IIM Bangalore announces Adani Accelerated Leadership Program (AALP) Scholarship for PGP students

Six beneficiaries will receive full-fee support worth Rs. 1.56 Cr to advance academic excellence and leadership potential
30 September, 2025, Bengaluru: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) today announced the launch of the Adani Accelerated Leadership Program (AALP) Scholarship, instituted by the Adani Group, through the efforts of the IIMB Development Foundation, the fundraising and development arm of the Institute. The scholarship, valued at Rs. 1.56 crore, will support six participants of IIMB’s Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) by covering full tuition fees for the entire two-year duration of the programme.
Present at the launch event were Mr. Karan Adani, Managing Director, Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd., and Mr. Ashwani Gupta, CEO, Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd. Earlier in the day, an MoU was signed between IIMB and the Adani Group in the presence of Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director In-charge, IIM Bangalore, and Mr. Karan Adani. Welcoming the partnership, Prof. Dinesh noted that such collaborations “directly shape the academic journeys of exceptional young leaders”, enabling IIMB to advance its mission of practice-oriented management education through meaningful industry engagement.
The AALP Scholarship has been conceptualised as part of the Adani Accelerated Leadership Program to nurture future leaders by combining academic excellence with meaningful industry exposure. Each year, six IIMB students will be selected to receive the full scholarship, disbursed in two instalments of Rs. 78 lakh each over the course of the programme, contingent on sustained academic performance.
Ms. Subhashrie Ramachandra Venkatraj, Senior Vice President and Head of Technology Talent at Adani Group, spoke of the Adani Accelerated Leadership Program (AALP), which has now evolved from a managerial training initiative into a fully-funded scholarship that supports future leaders at select institutions that include ISB, IIM Lucknow, IIM Calcutta, and IIM Bangalore. “Our mission with the AALP initiative is to nurture success at a foundational level with a strong internal talent pipeline. We seek to build tactical, strategic and operational relationships with the institute as well as be an active part of the students’ leadership journey”. On the intent behind the programme, she also added that by covering the full cost of a two-year MBA, the Group aimed to remove financial barriers and enable students who carried a passion and commitment towards India, its growth, and its future.
As part of the event, PGP-1 students Bhavika Waghdhare and Rutvik Baxi interacted with Adani Group leaders in a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Professor In-charge, New Campus, IIMB.
In response to a question on the Group’s future focus areas, Mr. Karan Adani positioned energy, logistics, and materials as the core growth drivers. He noted the global transition to sustainable energy, the need for cost-efficient electricity, the critical role of resilient supply chains, and India’s large-scale infrastructure rebuilding, which will place the materials business at the heart of the Group’s growth.
Addressing synergies between Adani’s port and airport businesses, he added, “In a country like India, where logistics remains a challenge, integrating all four modes of multimodal transport is essential in our approach to optimize efficiency. We have also initiated talent exchanges across our various business verticals to strengthen this integration and build holistic expertise.”
When asked how Adani is preparing its talent for a shift led by digitization and AI, Mr. Ashwani Gupta responded that AI for them was an enabler, not an end in itself. “We are clear about identifying the business outcomes we want to achieve, and then applying AI as a tool for optimization, efficiency, and effectiveness. Our focus is on deploying technology where it directly enhances operational performance and creates measurable impact”.
