Artists create magic at SPIC MACAY IIM Bangalore chapter’s Yamini 2025

Brigade Foundation partners for the 21st edition of the dusk-to-dawn classical music and dance showcase
1 February, 2025, Bengaluru: The SPIC MACAY IIM Bangalore chapter, in partnership with Brigade Foundation and Indian Music Experience Museum, supported by Federal Bank, hosted the much-anticipated Yamini 2025, a dusk-to-dawn festival of classical music and dance, on the eve of Republic Day, from 25 to 26 January 2025, at the Open-Air Theatre (OAT) of the IIM Bangalore campus.
The inaugural performance by SNA Awardee Vidwan D. Balakrishna set the tone for the evening with a mesmerizing Veena concert, accompanied by B.S. Prashanth on Mridangam and Shamith Gowda on Ghatam. Pt. Ronu Majumdar (SNA Awardee, Guinness World Record holder) and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee (SNA Awardee, Padma Nominee) followed with a delightful Hindustani Flute and Tabla jugalbandhi.
Kalamandalam Balasubramaniam (SNA Awardee) and his troupe delivered an enchanting Kathakali performance, meanwhile Vidwan Saketharaman (SNA’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar Awardee) enthralled the audience with a Carnatic vocal recital, accompanied by Nishanth Chandran on the Violin, Delhi Sairam on the Mridangam, and Rajashekar on the Morsing.
The student-led overnight showcase concluded with Padma Shri awardee Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar presenting a soulful Dhrupad performance, supported by Mohan Shyam Sharma on Pakhavaj, along with John Haywood, Rinku Lamba, and Jagannath Rao on the Tanpura.
Members of the IIMB community including Col. S.D. Aravendan, Chief Administrative Officer; Prof. Venkatesh Panchapagesan, Chairperson, Real Estate Research Initiative; and Prof. Rajluxmi V Murthy, Chairperson, Student Welfare, were present at the 21st edition of the event.
