Research at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) covers all the functional areas ofmanagement. Faculty members at IIMB are involved in both theoretical and empirical research toincrease our understanding of how economies, industries, rms, managers, and various stakeholders makedecisions and take actions. is report provides details of research and publication activities at IIMB fromApril 2013 to March 2014.is year, IIMB faculty members and research scholars have published four books and sixty-two articles inacademic journals. In recent years, the number of articles in leading academic journals has steadily increased.Our faculty published thirteen articles in top journals - journals which have been listed in the FinancialTimes 45 list, the Business Week 20 list, or the UT Dallas list of top journals. IIMB continues to distributecase studies through Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) and Ivey Publishing. During the academic year(2013-2014), eighteen cases along with their teaching notes were distributed through HBP and one case waspublished by Ivey Publishing. e research culture at IIMB is enriched by seminars at which researchers fromvarious academic institutes and research organizations share their research work. Close to forty researchersfrom across the globe visited IIMB and delivered research seminars. Several conferences and open housemeetings were conducted at IIMB to discuss many contemporary research themes at IIMB.Turning to awards and recognition, we received the top place among business schools in the Central AsiaRegion in the 'Eduniversal Awards' based on Deans Vote Survey in 2013. e Global Network for AdvancedManagement (GNAM) fosters substantive ties among the world's leading business schools, providingopportunities for faculty to exchange ideas. IIMB was only Indian business school in the GNAM list for 2013that features prestigious universities such as Yale, LSE, and INSEAD. As we move forward on the path ofinternationalization, excellence in research, and innovation, these awards and the international recognitionthat it brings is timely. Another signicant achievement is from our students: our student teams won theNational Finals of CFA Institute Research Challenge 2013-2014 and represented India at the Asia PacicFinals of the Investment Olympiad at Singapore in April 2013.IIMB, in partnership with University of North Carolina, received the prestigious Obama-Singh 21st CenturyKnowledge Initiative award. is initiative is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and building partnershipsbetween American and Indian institutions of higher education in priority elds. As part of this Initiative,Professor P. D. Jose and his team at IIMB will collaborate with the team at UNC (University of NorthCarolina) on the project 'Partnering for Success: Advancing Sustainability Research and Education in India'.Several IIMB faculty members have gained national and international recognition for their outstandingresearch achievements during this period and most of their works are available in the public domain. We areproud of our achievements and look forward to a period of increased research output in the next few years.
