BRICS Economic Research Award for Rahul Singh

Rahul is a PhD in Economics from IIM Bangalore and completed his doctoral studies under the supervision of Professor Rupa Chanda

09 SEPTEMBER, 2021: Rahul Singh, alumnus of the PhD programme at IIM Bangalore, has been awarded the BRICS Economic Research Award 2021 from India EXIM Bank for his dissertation titled, ‘Essays in International Trade in Post Liberalization India’. The award recognizes advanced doctoral research in economics that is of contemporary relevance to the member nations of BRICS. The award, sponsored by India EXIM Bank, comprises a citation, medal, and prize money of INR 1.5 million. 

Rahul is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Amrut Mody School of Management, Ahmedabad University. Rahul is a PhD in Economics from IIM Bangalore and completed his doctoral studies under the supervision of Professor Rupa Chanda. He is an applied microeconomist with research interests in the areas of International Trade and Development Economics. His award winning dissertation examines the effect of Non-tariff measures and Chinese imports on the performance of manufacturing firms in India.
