Faculty Position: Florintree Chair Professor in Private Equity and Venture Capital

Are you ready to shape the future of private equity and venture capital in one of the world's most dynamic economies?

IIM Bangalore, consistently ranked among leading business schools globally, recently announced the establishment of a newly endowed Florintree Chair Professorship in Private Equity and Venture Capital. For the same, it invites applications for the Tony James Centre for Private Equity and Venture Capital – dedicated to the education and research on private equity, venture capital, and alternative financing.

The appointment seeks to identify an individual of distinction, either an accomplished academic with a strong research portfolio or a senior industry leader with a record of strategic impact, capable of building and leading a high-calibre institutional initiative from inception. The successful candidate will be expected to bring clarity of vision, depth of expertise, and a commitment to institution-building at the intersection of financial innovation, capital markets, and entrepreneurial growth.

About the Role

The Chair Professor will be responsible for the following:

  • Setting the vision: Establish and implement the Centre's research, teaching, and engagement agenda to position it as the country's premier hub for private equity and venture capital thought leadership.
  • Research leadership: Produce and enable high-quality research that advances theoretical and empirical understanding of private capital markets and contributes to top-tier academic publications.
  • Sector Engagement: Build strong partnerships with private equity and venture capital firms, institutional investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers.
  • Institutional development: Raise external funding, design executive education program offerings, and convene forums to amplify the Centre's influence nationally and globally.
  • Capacity building: Inspire and mentor students, entrepreneurs, and early - career academics in this dynamic field.

Who should apply?

  • Academics with a Ph.D. in Finance, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, or related disciplines, and an outstanding record of research and leadership in private equity, venture capital, or alternative finance.
  • Industry leaders with a distinguished track record of leadership, credibility, and impact in private equity or venture capital. A doctoral qualification is not a prerequisite; those who have shaped the field and are ready to build a lasting legacy in academia are invited to apply.
