Projects led/ initiated in district

  • A Step Towards Inclusion: An encouraging result from Rajkot for Skill Ecosystem of Gujarat: 11 Candidates from LGBT Community (majority of them being transgenders) were trained under “Course on Computer Concepts (CCC)”. 100% Placement Ratio- 3 candidates were declared to be placed in Rajkot Collectorate Office by District Collector. District Skill Committee Rajkot received an award for this initiative from Gujarat State Aids Control Society on World Aids Day 2021. 

  • Step 2 of Inclusion: Opening gates of Skill Ecosystem for people with Dyslexia and Learning Disabilities: 22 candidates have been mobilized and counselling is in progress. I have been able to bring in Mental Health Expert & Special Educator are working on designing of course curriculum. I have also been able to on-board few employers who can ensure job works to them & couple of entrepreneurs who are ready to invest in the business in which the skill training happens. 

  • Step 3 of Inclusion: An attempt to pilot the batch of Female Sex Workers in the Skill Ecosystem of Gujarat: The project is at the very initial stage. Currently, mobilization of candidates and one-on-one interaction is in process with the help of one stakeholder. Groundwork is also parallelly in progress which includes a qualitative study of Female Sex Workers in Rajkot District and knowing their stories, struggles etc. (part of rapport building). I am trying to on-board more stakeholders in this process for smooth flow of the initiative. 

  • CareerNAMA- A Career Exploration and Counselling program for secondary school students in collaboration with Quest Alliance. 5 districts of Gujarat (Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Surendranagar and Bhavnagar) are amongst the first districts across India to sign a MoU between District Skill Committees and any other party. Pilot is being done in 10 schools of all the 5 districts. Launch of the project was done by Hon. Collector & District Magistrate Rajkot. 

  • Capacity Building of Widow Women: Training and job work to women who lost their bread earners in Covid-19 crisis. 

  • Skill Gap Analysis and Recommendations: Rajkot is one of the first districts to make a Taluka level Skill Development Plans. Rajkot in 2020 prepared taluka skill development plans for all the talukas and then prepared a District Skill Development Plan with the help of TSDPs.

  • Appreciated by NewsX, Red FM, SocioStory & local newspapers for relief activities amidst Covid-19 Pandemic.  Served more than 2000 meals to 140 patients & gave ration kits to more than 120 families (including transgender families). 

  • Awarded an Appreciation Certificate from Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra (2017-18). 

  • Social Case work- Adolescent girl suffering from cerebral palsy (2015-16).
