Innovators nurtured at IIMB win National Awards for disability advocacy
PGP ’15 Vineet Saraiwala, and NSRCEL incubatee Alina Alam honored for ‘Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities’
7 December 2024, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore continues to demonstrate its role as a hub for impactful changemakers. This year, on World Disability Day, December 3, two changemakers nurtured at IIMB, were recipients of National Awards presented by the Hon. President of India for their pioneering and sustained contributions to disability advocacy.
PGP ’15 alumnus Vineet Saraiwala received the National Award 2024 on behalf of Atypical Advantage, the organization he co-founded. Atypical Advantage has become India’s largest platform for Persons with Disabilities (PWD), that enables livelihood opportunities for over 20,000 talents and collaborates with 300+ corporates. Their mission has developed inclusive roadmaps by bridging a crucial gap between PWD talent and meaningful career opportunity.
Alina Alam, founder of Mitti Café, was similarly recognized for her venture’s transformative impact. Incubated at NSRCEL, IIMB’s entrepreneurial hub, Mitti Café provides equitable and dignified employment to persons with disabilities. The organization further creates inclusive spaces by operating in institutions across India, including Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Supreme Court of India, and the IIM Bangalore campus.
