6th edition of Human Resources International Conference (HRIC) to be held at IIMB from 9 to 11 April
Global summit to focus on AI’s impact on work and workforces under the theme ‘Sustainable Human Resource Management in the Age of Disruption’
7 April, 2026, Bengaluru: IIMB will host the 6th edition of the Human Resources International Conference (HRIC), organized by the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management (AOM), from April 9–11, 2026. The academic gathering, previously held in China, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa, is set to bring together scholars, practitioners and doctoral students to reflect on the future of HR in an era defined by technological transformation and workplace disruption.
The conference chairs for HRIC 2026 are Prof. Sushanta Kumar Mishra, Chairperson, Research & Publications and Centre for Teaching and Learning, and faculty in the OB&HRM area at IIMB; Prof. Pawan Budhwar, Aston University, Birmingham, UK; and Prof. Arup Varma, Quinlan School of Business, Loyola University Chicago.
The theme for the 2026 edition is ‘Sustainable Human Resource Management in the Age of Disruption’, with an emphasis on the profound and evolving impact of AI on work and workforces. Through keynotes, panel discussions, paper presentations and more, the conference seeks to reimagine HRM practices that respond not only to the opportunities presented by technological advancement but also to the human and ethical challenges they pose.

Doctoral Colloquium and Early Career Researchers Workshop
The Doctoral Colloquium and Early Career Researchers Workshop, providing feedback on research endeavors with hands-on workshops and discussions, will also be held as part of the pre-conference on 8 April. The day’s events will comprise a feedback session with peers and senior academics, a seminar on a topic of relevance to doctoral students, and interactive panels and roundtables focused on publishing.
Conference Tracks
1. Digital Transformation in HRM: Exploring how technology, including AI, is reshaping HR practices, including employee relations in remote and hybrid work environments.
2. Future of Work and HR: Examining how HR can lead organizations through change as work evolves due to societal and technological shifts, including ethics and Common Good HRM. It further includes investigating the challenges and strategies for managing a diverse, global workforce.
3. Employee Safety, Well-Being, and Mental Health: Focusing on initiatives and policies promoting mental health, work-life balance, and overall well-being.
4. Entrepreneurship and HRM: Exploring the intersection of entrepreneurship and HRM, focusing on how HR practices can support entrepreneurial ventures and foster innovation within organizations.
5. The Role of HR in Environmental Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Analyzing the role of HR in promoting sustainable practices and corporate social responsibility within organizations, such as Green HRM.
6. Talent Management and Succession Planning: Focusing on innovative approaches to attracting, retaining, and developing talent in a competitive landscape, including gig working, skunk teams/project-based organizations.
7. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Examining strategies for fostering inclusive workplaces and addressing systemic biases in HR practices.
8. Indigenous Knowledge System and HR: Exploring how indigenous knowledge and thoughts can shape HRM in the changing context.
9. Poster Presentations: Encouraging informal and open dialogue between researchers, providing a platform for networking and feedback. If accepted, researchers are expected to create a poster presentation summarizing their key research questions/ideas/findings.
10. Doctoral Submission: Doctoral Colloquium and Junior Faculty Development Workshop Submissions.
