13 July, 2022, Bengaluru: A team of participants from IIM Bangalore’s Certificate Progarmme: Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF), has secured the top position in ‘Skillathon 2022’ – a competition conducted by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation.

The IIMB team consisted of Shreenandan H S, MGNF Kolar, H P Manoj, MGNF Chamarajanagar, Varun K, MGNF Bellary and Srinidhi Gurunath, MGNF Chikkamagaluru.

The team worked on the problem statement: ‘Making Vocational Education Aspirational’, and put forward the detailed problem analysis, various solutions using RICE model to prioritize among different solutions, budget requirement, and unintended consequence and its redressal.

The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC), on the eve of World Youth Skills Day (WYSD), hosted Skillathon 2022, a case competition. Skillathon is a creative problem-solving event in which an individual or a group of two to four participants come together virtually to solve a given problem statement. The event envisages solving existing problems plaguing the skilling ecosystem by providing a platform. The entries had to be mailed by July 11, 2022, and the KSDC team evaluated the entries and announced the winner details on July 13, 2022.

The Chief Minister of Karnataka is expected to felicitate the winners on July 15, 2022 during the World Youth Skills Day celebrations in Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru. If the solution is feasible, it will be implemented by the Government of Karnataka. 

MGNF is an initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GoI) that is designed and implemented by IIM Bangalore, in collaboration with State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs). The two-year full-time programme provides the opportunity to young, dynamic individuals to contribute to enhancing skill development and promote economic development.
