During the session, Suniel Meena, Head of Growth, Mudrex, explained how cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology have revolutionized start-up funding, business models and industries worldwide

6 June, 2023, Bengaluru: Suniel Meena, Head of Growth, Mudrex, addressed IIM Bangalore students on ‘How cryptocurrencies are enabling start-ups of the new era’, on 5th July 2023 during a session organized by the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) Seminar Committee, as part of its Seminar Series. This series has been designed to not only provide valuable knowledge and insights to the students, but also to inspire them to strive for excellence in their future leadership roles.

During his talk, Suniel pointed out that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology have transformed the start-up landscape, providing decentralized funding options and innovative business models. “Start-ups can access funding through Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and engage directly with their communities, bypassing traditional intermediaries.”

Listing the different ways in which cryptocurrencies and blockchain have revolutionized start-up funding, business models and industries worldwide, he said, “Blockchain ensures transparency, security and immutability in transactions, fostering trust and accountability. Smart contracts automate agreements, reducing errors and streamlining operations. Moreover, cryptocurrencies offer investment opportunities, such as ICOs, NFTs and DeFi, allowing investors to diversify their portfolio. The rise of crypto-enabled start-ups is evident through significant funding raised and partnerships forged with industry leaders.”

Suniel further explained that strategies like dollar-cost averaging, diversification and value investing can be employed for crypto investments. “Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology have opened up new avenues for start-ups, providing global access to capital and disrupting various sectors, thereby offering immense potential for growth and innovation.”
